The property surrounding 19 Beechwood is mostly vacant because of a fire that took place in 2011. What is left of the building is occupied by a bakery and a restaurant business. The use is about to change since Minto has been granted the necessary approvals to develop this area along Beechwood Avenue within the quaint village of New Edinburgh.
The building will be ‘mixed-use’ consisting of commercial space at the bottom and residential units on top. The architecture is traditional in nature and merges well with the surrounding building facades.
Future residents will have the opportunity to take advantage of various boutique style shops and restaurants along Beechwood Avenue. The future building will be surrounded by neighbourhood parks including: New Edinburgh Park (tennis, soccer, baseball), Optimist Park (skating) and Lindenlea Park. Residents will also be within close proximity to downtown Ottawa.
